MALAGUENA – Full Tutorial with TAB – Fingerstyle Guitar

Malaguena performed by Robert Lunn

The word, Malagueña, means a few different things. It refers to folk music from Venezuela, it also refers to a type of traditional flamenco music from Andalusian. I first came across this melody when I heard somebody perform Francisco Tarrega’s arrangement of the song.

I have made two arrangements of the Malaguena: an easy version and a hard version. This arrangement is the harder version. This arrangement contains harmonics, rasgueados, and tremolo. It’s a great melody and I have always loved playing it.

SONG FROM SECRET A GARDEN – Full Tutorial with TAB – Fingerstyle Guitar

Song From a Secret Garden performed by Robert Lunn

Song from a Secret Garden is a beautiful piece of music. The music is by Rolf Løvland. In this guitar tutorial I teach you the arrangement that I made. Because there is so much repetition in the melody I have tried to set the melody differently throughout the arrangement. I use harmonics, tremolo, put the melody in the lower register, and so on.

DANCE OF THE RED DRAGON – Easy Rasgueados – Full Tutorial with TAB – Fingerstyle Guitar

Dance of the Red Dragon performed by Robert Lunn

Dance of the Red Dragon is a piece I composed for a guitar student. I wanted to write a piece that was fairly easy to play and that used rasgueados. This piece was also designed to be played at different speeds depending on the students skill level.

WHAT WONDROUS LOVE IS THIS – Full Tutorial with TAB – Fingerstyle Guitar

What Wondrous Love Is This performed by Robert Lunn

What Wondrous Love Is This has a beautiful melody that works well on the guitar. This is an old hymn that was first published back in 1811.

An interesting nugget about this piece is that it is in the Dorian mode. The dorian mode can be built by first writing out a natural minor scale (ex. A, B, C, D, E, F, G) and then raising the 6th note. So a dorian scale on A would go A, B, C, D, E, F-sharp, G, A. This particular melody is in D dorian so the scale goes: D, E, F, G, A, B, C, D.

LA CATEDRAL – Andante Religioso – Agustín Barrios – Full Tutorial with TAB – Fingerstyle Guitar

La Catedral: Second Movement performed by Robert Lunn

La Catedral is a great piece composed by Agustin Barrios Mangore. The last two movements were composed earlier in his life and then he added the first movement (the one in this teaching video) later in life. He reworked this piece throughout his life and you will find multiple versions of it. For more information about La Catedral I would recommend checking out: https://www.savarese.org/music/LaCatedral.html

Of the three movements, this one is my personal favorite and the reason I started learning the piece many moons ago.

Agustin Barrios was a guitar composer and composed a lot of really good pieces. He was born in Paraguay and was praised for his concerts as well as recordings. If you don’t know this composer I would highly recommend checking out his other pieces.

AMAZING GRACE – Easy Arrangement- Full Tutorial with TABs – Fingerstyle Guitar

Amazing Grace Performed by Robert Lunn

Amazing Grace is one of my favorite melodies of all-time. The words were written in 1772 by John Newton. It was common back then for words to be used with a variety of different melodies and it wasn’t until around 1847 that we first find a publication joining the words with the melody commonly used today called, New Britain.

This arrangement in this guitar lesson comes from my first volume of easy arrangements. As the title implies, I tried to make this as easy as possible to play while still keeping the integrity of the original tune.

Ave Maria Performed by Robert Lunn

Ave Maria is a beautiful piece of music composed by Franz Schubert. Schubert originally composed the music as part of a collection of seven songs titled, “Ellens dritter Gesang” and is part of his Op. 52. Eventually words from the Roman Catholic prayer, Ave Maria, were added adopting using Schubert’s original melody.

SAKURA – Easy Arrangement – Full Tutorial with TAB – Fingerstyle Guitar

Sakura performed by Robert Lunn

Sakura is a popular folk song found in Japan. The translation means “Cherry Blossoms.” I’ve always loved this melody. The first time I heard it performed on the classical guitar was by John Williams who was playing an arrangement by Yuquijiro Yocoh. That is a very virtuosic arrangement (and beautiful arrangement). For this arrangement I wanted to arrange it for the late-beginner, early intermediate level student.

RONDO ALLA TURCA (Turkish March) – Excerpt – W.A. Mozart – Fingerstyle Guitar

Rondo alla Turca performed by Robert Lunn

I made this arrangement of the Rondo Alla Turca last year and finally got around to recording it. It took so long because it is difficult and I wanted to adjust the arrangement so that it was less difficult to play.

Mozart composed this piece in 1778 and is the last movement of his Piano Sonata No. 11. It was meant to imitate the sound of Turkish Janissary Bands.

I’ll be making a teaching video for this song very soon.
