Fire Dance at Dusk is piece I composed last week for the intermediate-level guitarist. It alternates between a fast section in simple meter (4/4) and a slow section in compound meter (6/8). Last week I witnessed a beautiful sunset over Lake Michigan. It turned the sky fiery red. That image inspired this piece.

A Stream Without End – Full Tutorial With TAB – Fingerstyle Guitar
A Stream Without End is an etude I composed for the guitar that focuses on a right hand arpeggio (p, i, a) that repeats throughout the entire song. The piece was inspired by memories from childhood when we lived right next to a stream. I remember sitting there watching things float down the stream (like leaves). From my vantage point I couldn’t see the beginning of the stream nor the end of the stream.

I composed Gateway to a Dream a couple days ago. I wanted to write a piece for the early intermediate fingerstyle guitar player. The form of the piece is a rondo (ABACA). In a rondo, a section of the song returns throughout the work.
MOROCCAN NIGHTS – Rasgueado and Tremolo – Full Tutorial with TAB – Fingerstyle Guitar
I composed Moroccan Nights using the double harmonic scale. The scale goes by a variety of names but what makes it stand out is that it has two large intervals in the scale called augmented 2nds.
I also use some basic rasgueados (strumming) in certain sections of the song as well as a different type of tremolo, compared to what most classical guitarists are used to.

Melancholia comes from a suite of pieces I composed back in 2012-2013 called, The Year of the Guitar. My goal for composing these pieces was to compose a group of guitar pieces for the intermediate-level guitarist. This particular one uses a lot of artificial harmonics, which is a really cool effect you can get on the guitar.

A Beam of Light on a Yellow Flower is a piece I composed for my guitar school found at my website. I wanted to compose a piece where you would alternate between melody (played by the fingers) and a simple bass (played by the thumb).
SPARKLES – Cool Harp Harmonics – Full Tutorial With TAB – Fingerstyle Guitar
Harmonics are a cool effect on the guitar and I try to incorporate them as much as I can in my originals and arrangements. This etude I composed includes natural and artificial harmonics. It also includes a technique that I call, harp harmonics. It gives the impression of a harp.
These are all techniques commonly called extended techniques. Extended techniques involve producing sound with an instrument in an unorthodox way.
