My 5 Favorite Arrangements (Includes Sheet Music/TAB)

My top 5 favorite arrangement include:

Moonlight Sonata (1st Movement) by Beethoven

Malagueña (Easy Arrangement)

Adagio in G Minor (A min transposed)

Greensleeves

House of the Rising Sun

Moonlight Sonata is just a classic piece of music by one of the greatest composers of all time. I didn’t know if it would work on guitar but I did listen to other versions so I figured it was possible. I get requests all of the time to arrange the fast third movement but I don’t know about that.

The Malagueña is a CLASSIC. I actually have two arrangements of this piece. The other is a harder arrangement which you can find here:

The next three arrangements are all “easy arrangements.” I realize “easy” is in the eye of the beholder. My goal was to simplify them as much as possible while still allowing the “essence” to come through.

All of these are available through my membership. With that you get ALL of my sheet music and tabs as well as ALL of my video lessons. You can learn more here: https://robertlunn.com/become-a-member

HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN – Easy Arrangement – Full Sheet Music/Tab – Classical Guitar

House of the Rising Sun performed by Robert Lunn

House of the Rising Sun is my favorite song. I have always loved the version by The Animals. I have made two arrangements of this over the years. This easy arrangement as well as a harder arrangement.

Practicing (04-09-2020)

I was doing some practicing earlier today and decided to hit record on my video camera. I am running through songs I haven’t played through in awhile. Songs include:

Scarborough Fair (0:51), A Lighter Shade of Blue (3:34), House of the Rising Sun (5:00), A Joyful Noise (9:34) and Lagrima (14:03)

Enjoy the good, bad, and ugly!!

Etude 8 (Improvisation)

I am currently writing a set of 8 etudes for the guitar. Each of them includes some kind of an extended technique. This particular one uses a slide which isn’t used a lot in the classical guitar literature. I have always loved the sound. Check this video out…

And if haven’t already checked out the famous Messiahsez, by all means do…

There were a couple surprises that I found sounded interesting in my improv. The first was that when the slide is used with tremolo it produces a pretty cool sound. Also, artificial harmonics can slide around with a slide. Often before writing a piece I will improvise around on an idea or two. That is what I am doing in this video.

House of the Rising Sun

Possibly my most favorite song, ever, of all-time. I love the version by The Animals. Who doesn’t?? Recently I have been listening to Bob Dylan’s version of the song which, I must say, is amazing. I have made a couple arrangements for solo guitar. It can be found in my Easy Arrangements, Vol. 1. You can listen to that arrangement here:

I have also made longer version that is a touch more difficult. It begins by playing the theme slowly…

The theme then moves to the bass…

Then to the upper voice…

Then I speed it up. First in triplets…

Tremolo….

and for the finale I switch it to strumming…

Here is me performing the full arrangement in concert a few weeks ago…

The full arrangement…

The arrangement is available here.
