Danny Boy comes from an old traditional Irish melody called, Londonderry Air. English words were later added in the early 20th century by Frederic Weatherly.
This arrangement comes from my first volume of easy arrangements. It’s a group of 30 hymns, folk, spirituals, and patriotic songs. I tried to make the arrangement as easy as possible while still keeping the integrity of the piece.

New arrangement! Moon River is a beautiful song with the music composed by Henry Mancini for the film, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The song was sung in the movie by Audrey Hepburn.

House of the Rising Sun is my favorite song. I have always loved the version by The Animals. I have made two arrangements of this over the years. This easy arrangement as well as a harder arrangement.

This is a beautiful theme, composed by Francis Lai, for the movie Love Story. In the movie the theme appeared as an instrumental and then after the movie the theme was given words, by Carl Sigman, and was released in 1971 with Andy Williams singing under the title, “Where Do I Begin?”

Amazing Grace is one of my favorite melodies of all-time. The words were written in 1772 by John Newton. It was common back then for words to be used with a variety of different melodies and it wasn’t until around 1847 that we first find a publication joining the words with the melody commonly used today called, New Britain.
This arrangement in this guitar lesson comes from my first volume of easy arrangements. As the title implies, I tried to make this as easy as possible to play while still keeping the integrity of the original tune.

Waltz of the Flowers was composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and comes from his Nutcracker ballet.

This is one of the most beautiful movie themes of all time. This was composed by John Williams for the movie, Schindler’s List. The theme was originally played by the great violinist, Itzhak Perlman.

Chariots of Fire would have to be one of my favorite movie themes of all-time. It was composed by Vangelis for the 1981 movie. Originally, I didn’t know if this would work but once I transposed it to D, dropped the 6th string to a D, it seemed to work.

Dee, by Randy Rhoads, is a beautiful piece of music he composed for his mother and was released on Ozzy Osbourne’s 1980 album, Blizzard of Ozz. Randy Rhoads is one of my favorite guitarists. He was a master composer who composed so many memorable themes and solos.
What I love about this piece is that it is a mixture of older and new styles. He quotes Bourree in E minor by J.S. Bach but yet he also has chords and figures which were common to popular styles in the 1980s.

Here is my arrangement of Chim Chim Cher-ee from the movie, Mary Poppins. I’ve always enjoyed this movie and loved song. I tried to make this arrangement as easy as possible.
When my youngest son was five this was his favorite movie. Julie Andrews came to the school I was teaching at to give a talk and I had a chance to meet her. I went home and told my son that I met, Mary Poppins. He was soooooo impressed.
